Natural Forces and Laws of Physics

vehicle and laws of physics

The following natural forces and laws of physics apply to every moving vehicle and can have effects such as changing the speed or direction of your vehicle:

  • Gravity
  • Inertia
  • Kinetic Energy
  • Potential Energy
  • Friction
  • Centrifugal Force
  • Momentum

For example, if you are driving down a hill, the gravity force will cause your vehicle to go faster down the hill and when you push your brakes, your brake system applies friction to your wheels, which goes against your vehicle's motion and slows down your vehicle.

When you have a good understanding of natural forces and laws of physics, you can use your knowledge in this area to:

  • Determine how physics applies to your vehicle at any point, whether your vehicle is moving or parked, and decide the best course of action for any situation.
  • Make safer and smarter driving decisions and maneuvers.
  • Have a better handle and control of your vehicle at all the times.
  • Be more conscious of hazardous situations and more prepared to deal with those situations.
