What is Kaitlyn's Law?

child left in car

Kaitlyn's Law says that you may never leave a child six years or younger in a car when:

  • Conditions could risk the child's life (heat, cold).
  • When the vehicle is running or has keys in the ignition or both.

Leaving a child under these conditions will result in a fine and mandatory completion of a child safety education program.

Exception: When there is someone 12 years or older supervising in the vehicle
