How to start a vehicle

If you are in an automatic transmission car, follow these steps to start the vehicle:

  1. Place your key in the ignition and turn it to the ‘on' (third) position.
  2. Press the brake pedal.
  3. Switch the gear to Drive (D).
  4. Lift your foot from the brake and press the accelerator gradually to start moving. (30)

If you are in a manual transmission car, follow these steps to start the vehicle:

  1. Place vehicle in neutral (N).
  2. Press the clutch pedal with your left foot and the brake pedal with your right.
  3. Turn the key to the ‘on' position.
  4. Release the parking brake and switch gears to first.
