The dangers of driving off the pavement

Driving off the pavement of a roadway can cause an accident. If you are forced off the roadway or must drive off the pavement, follow the tips below to avoid serious injury:

Stay calm – panicking will not help.
Keep your hands firmly on the wheel.
Steer straight ahead of you.
Stay on the shoulder of the road.
Brake gradually and slow to a stop.
Don’t enter the roadway until you can do so safely. Drive slowly.
